Have you ever tried to create and grow a new brand online? Where do you start? What social media platforms do you use? What type of content should you be producing?
Well these are questions that I am currently working on as I help build a new brand online. So where did we start?
#1 Secret – Don’t wait to be perfect…just get started!
While you of course have to start with a product or service, design, website, etc. Once you have the basics down it really starts with being authentic. Like I said above things don’t need to be perfect but its extremely important to be authentic. Tell your true story and don’t worry about what anyone thinks or what the “competition” is doing.
Define Your Audience
This is a huge opportunity I see for many brands, as they believe they need to reach as many people as possible without truly defining who their target audience should be for their brand. Id rather reach 10,000 people and have 50% of them engage or purchase instead of reaching 30,000 and having only 5% engage or purchase.
So how did we define our target audience? Below are a few questions we asked ourselves that I believe can work for any brand.
Who do you think is your target audience?
What do they like to do?
What do they want?
Who do they follow on social media?
What social media platforms are they more likely to be on?
What makes them buy?
What makes them engage?
These are just a few sample questions we used but the more detailed you get the better understanding you can have of what makes your audience tick.
Social Media and Social Selling
Social Media and Social Selling are the most powerful tools in business today and if you are not using them effectively, you are losing! I said this before but we do not live in the print advertising days anymore where you can just put a picture of your t-shirt or product on your Facebook page with a 20% sale and expect people to flood your website with sales. It simply does not work like that and the sooner every business figures this out the sooner you may be able to keep your business in the future!
With that said we do understand this and are spending a majority of our time creating content, design and engaging with our audience to not only drive sales but to create a movement that truly touches the lives of the people we encounter. Now that I am done with my rant let’s get down to business!
Below is how we are building our brand through social media…just remember with social the game is always changing so make sure you stay on top of it or use a company that can help you tell your story.
What platforms do your target audience use?
Extremely important to know as each social media platform has different functions and reaches a different audience. Below are what platforms we are using and how they relate to our business.
Once you have identified the platforms you want to use it is vital that you understand that great content for one platform may not be great for another. We dedicate more than half of our time creating different content for each platform. Do some platforms cross over yes but don’t be lazy, remember original content that your target audience can relate to will convert 10X more than the same basic content used over and over again on all platforms.
While these are just a few strategies and tools we are using I know there are a lot more and would love to hear what is working for you and your brand.
