If you've been active on Instagram recently and follow many brands and public figures you may have noticed the new profile layout. Not only does the new layout look better for businesses, but it also offers some great features.
This article will walk you through on how to switch your existing Instagram account to a business profile. I will also be going through the additional features.
Creating A Business Profile:
To create an Instagram business profile, you need to have an existing Instagram account. You will also need to have a Facebook page that represents your company or public figure.
Once you have that sorted, login to your Instagram account and click on the settings icon. You should then see “Switch to Business Profile” click that and proceed with the instructions. You will need to connect your Instagram account with your Facebook page. This will then pull data from the page and update your Instagram.
Adding Contact Information:
With the new profile, you can make it easier for your followers to get in touch with you. You can add any of the following to your contact information:
These contact methods will then display when a user clicks on your “Contact” button.
To add this information, click the settings icon then choose “Edit Profile”, scroll down till you see “Business contact information” and click on that. You will then be given the options to enter in your email address, phone number and your address.
Instagram Profile Insights:
After successfully switching your account to a Business Profile, you will be able to access Instagram insights as long as you have over 100 followers. You will then be able to find out information such as how many impressions and website clicks you’ve received in a week, top posts, time your followers are online, gender, age range and top locations. All this data is great for creating more personalised content to your followers as you will know more about them.

The new update now allows you to promote your content directly from app to drive your business objectives. To do this, simply click on the content you would like to promote, underneath the content you should see “Promote” click this and then you will be given the option to choose whether you want people to:
Visit your Website
Call or visit your business
Once you’ve chosen what you want them to do, you will then be able to create a custom audience, set your budget and duration then push it live!
