All I hear about on social media is how many followers someone has or how many likes someone received on their post but I rarely hear about how much money they made or how many new people they met.
Why? What’s wrong with talking about the bottom line? So I wanted to share my experience with Twitter and explain how through engagement and giving I was able to add over $30,000 in sales, 11 new clients, went from 0 to 20,000 followers in 3 months and met some great people who I now consider friends.
While $30,000 is not enough to retire on it has definitely given me a proof of concept that I can build on. If you’re thinking it can’t be that easy I am going to show you step by step how I did it and how you can as well.
Just get started…when you first start with the 0 followers it is always intimidating as you look at other accounts that have many followers and feel somewhat defeated before you start. Just remember that every account on Twitter started at 0 and just like anything else great in life it takes time to build.
Tips for getting started:
All you have to do is start tweeting. For me, I am a business growth consultant so I started tweeting content in my space. I would go to sites like Inc., Entrepreneur, or Mashable and find articles about business growth or sales tips and simply share them. I also found motivational memes or quotes that I felt would resonate with my target audience.
Tips for creating great content:
Build Your Target Audience
Once I started sharing content I knew I had to grow my target audience so I simply Googled “How to grow your target audience on Twitter”, and learned that one of the best ways to grow your target audience was with an app called Crowdfire (there are other great apps as well but Crowdfire was the one that worked best for me) which allows you to “copy followers” or influencers that have the same target audience you want to focus on.
Tip for building your target audience:
This, unfortunately, is the biggest opportunity across all social media platforms! We are not in the print advertising days anymore where you can just post an ad selling your products or services and expect people to buy from you.
Like I mention above if someone retweets or mentions you in a tweet you need to thank them and appreciate them for taking their time out of the thousands of tweets they see daily to interact with you. Some of the below tips will be similar to ones I have already reviewed but this it the key to having success through Twitter and any other social platform.
Tips to engage with your audience:
While Twitter has had some negative press lately, it has been an amazing ride for me and has added a completely new stream of income for my business. Twitter is now a daily part of my business and if used correctly can not only generate income but also open up many new opportunities. If I can leave you with one last tip, it would be to simply engage…at first don’t worry so much about the strategy and just focus on the being social.
If I can help you in anyways, please do not hesitate to reach out!
