Nothing Cookie Cutter about Sacramento Pizza Company’s Build Your Own Pizza Model
Your Pie. Your Way
Neil Patel had worked his way to the top of the auto-sales industry game when he decided to make his dream of owning his own restaurant a reality. After a few failed attempts at obtaining a franchise license, Neil decided to forge his own path and that is how Sacramento Pizza Company came to fruition.
In his research, Neil looked at a few options before settling on the make your own pizza concept. A Sacramento native, Neil knew he wanted to pay homage to his hometown in his restaurant’s name. Through personal research as well as trial and error, Neil and his partners, Huy Tran and Anay Patel, navigated the rough waters of construction and development to create their brick and mortar location in Folsom. “I appreciate every bit of this restaurant because we created it all from scratch,” said Neil. From the pizza boxes to the hand painted lighting fixtures and furniture, this has all been a labor of love for Neil and his team. With an open-minded approach, they built a uniquely personal atmosphere, a compliment to their create-your-own-pizza model.
Guests can choose from 7 or 10 inch pies and create personalized pizzas from a variety of sauces, cheeses, vegetables and meats. They have gluten free and vegan options too. Besides pizza, they have wings, ice cream and local beers on tap. In keeping with the Sacramento theme, SPC features Gunther’s ice cream and Track 7 beer.
Since their opening last November 2015, Sacramento Pizza Company has received tremendous support from locals, especially Folsom residents. “The community has really rallied around us,” said Neil. Most of their new guests are referrals from a local Facebook community page as well as Yelp. Coming from the service industry, Neil knows the value of good customer service. He passes that passion to his staff through positive leadership and showing great care in all he does. In fact, some of staff members joined his team after being loyal customers themselves.
Nick, one of his staff members, came in regularly after soccer practice, and was recruited by the former general manager. “I loved the food and you can’t beat the value and quality,” said Nick.
While maintaining a professional atmosphere for guests, Neil also wants to create an enjoyable work environment where his crew looks forward to coming to work. “If you don’t enjoy what you’re doing, what’s the point?” says Neil. Caring for his staff directly translates to caring for his guests as well.
